Racism Definitions

Definitions for "Racism" are convoluted,  contradictory, complex, and intentionally confusing. We use "racism" like media and politicians use it.

1) Racism as defined by Anti-Racists (PC) and by Media

PC (Politically Correct Left), aka Anti-Racism re-defines and confuses terminology.

South African Blacks singing "Kill the [white] Boer" are NOT racist, or else , Nelson Mandela would not earn a peace Nobel Prize

OnlyWhitesCanBeRacist

or  BlacksCannotBeRacist

Saving black Lives by efficient strict policing is racist,

Color Blindness, treating all people equal, is racist. Thus Martin Luther King was racist

Color blind admission tests are racist, if black skin color does not get extra affirmative action points

computers are racist, computer programs (agorithms) are racist

babies are racist,

calling police on black misdemeanors is racist,

studying and  mentioning race differences in IQ and crime is racist,

telling the truth about black crime is racist, ##Rotherham,

treating races equally and judging people of different races by the same criteria is racist (Disparate Impact),

Black Privilege is not racist

"All Lives Matter" or "White Lives Matter" is racist. Black Lives Matter is not racist.

Color Blindness, the New Racism.

Anti-Racists have created a system of unequal treatment, unequal rights, affirmative action, Black Privilege and Left Privilege

The word 'racism' is like ketchup. It can be put on practically anything - and demanding evidence makes you a 'racist.' [Thomas Sowell]

"Racist  und "racism" have been weaponized to kill logic, science, to win arguments.

A Racist is a conservative that is winning an argument with a "liberal". [Thomas Sowell]

Intuitive Old Racism Definition

You are a racist

  • if you hate other races,
  • if you discriminate against members of other races to the point of persecuting, maiming, killing them,

This was  the intuitive understanding of Racism.

Racism Re-defined

If you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards, that would have gotten you labeled a radical 60 years ago, a liberal 30 years ago and a racist today. [Thomas Sowell]

1) Colorblindness, Equal treatment, equal opportunity

Racism is treating people differently, based on the color of their skin. Color blindness is needed to avoid such racism.

2) "UnequalTreatmentRacism" br />
By this definition, the Anti-Racists are Racist. They are constantly obsessed about race and treat races differently.

Paul Weston Asks: Are You a White-hating, Left-wing Racist?

3) #LeftRacism or #ObamaRacism aka anti-white racism

Institutionalized unequal treatment based on skin color, favoring all non-white "minorities". Such  racism perpetrated by the Left we define as #LeftRacism, or #Obamaracism.

ObamaRacism stipulates that equal treatment is racist.

Left, to Black child: Wonderful, a child who is proudly and freely aware its wonderful roots.

-Right, to White child: Disgusting, a child who acts racist, discriminatory and inhuman!

 Disparate impact ....

Quotas that don't hold Blacks to the same standards as Whites, are racist, by the colorblindness standard.  For clarity's sake, we will call such institutionalized racism #LeftRacism. The term anti-white racism is, in itself, considered racist (?). Such unequal-treatment-racism is constantly perpetrated by the Politially correct Left, under the guise of enforcing "Equal Outcome"

When Blacks have lower grades in school, lower scores on placement exams, lower scores in firefighter entrance and promotion exams, this is proof of racism.  By dogmatic PC #EqualityLie, all races are equal in all respects except skin color.  .....

4) #ApartheidRacism  #SeparateButEqual

Segregation and Apartheid are considered racist.

Separate but Equal. This is not violating the "equal treatment" racism definition.

Because of race differences, though, Blacks left on their own create create corrupt, violent, poor environments. By equality axiom of the Left, such unequal outcome is due to White Racism. Such unequal outcome, created by unequal talent, intelligence, self control and skills

Notoriously, the modern definition of "racist" is somebody who is winning an argument with a liberal…or with a country-club Republican battling servant problems.  So, as a veteran of the immigration reform movement, I wasn't surprised to see the anti-illegal immigration initiative Defend Colorado Now smeared in a recent RMN article (Funding questioned:Critics say some Defend Colorado money tainted, by Kevin Flynn, July 15 2006) [Source]

VDARE Endorsed by Southern Poverty Law Center! (Well, we regard it as an endorsement.)

The Southern Poverty Law Center recently issued one of their reports on racism. Immigration reformers including VDARE were in for a pasting, because, you see, the majority of Americans are white, and the majority of immigrants are non-white.
Therefore, opposition to immigration is racist. People get upset at this accusation. It is intended to drive the victim out of decent society. The SPLC functions like Red Channels in the McCarthy era.
Some of you may wonder how to avoid being called racist. It can't be done. "Be thou as chaste as ice, as pure as snow, thou shalt not escape calumny." as Hamlet told Ophelia., who committed suicide on the strength of it. Admittedly, Sam Francis and Jared Taylor aren't trying very hard to be nice, unlike, say, Roy Beck, who is nice (not that it does him any good).
But no amount of backing and filling, surrendering, apologizing, or groveling will allow you to escape this accusation. Neither will suicide.
Here's a short list of people and organizations who've been called racist, in spite of flaming liberalism:
Rudy Giuliani, the liberal Republican Mayor of New York. There's a whole site devoted to this.
Terry McCauliffe
, Democratic National Committee chairthing. (He said "colored people" when he should have said "people of color". But the NAACP forgave him.)
Bill Clinton, by Kimberley Wilson, an African-American woman, and also by Christopher Hitchens.
Nadine Gordimer
, the anti-apartheid South African novelist.
Art Spiegelman,
the cartoonist, accusing both himself and his four and a half year old son.
Hillary Clinton.
She, like Giuliani, supported the Clinton Administration's "putatively tough and essentially racist initiatives on criminal justice."
Frosty the Snowman.
I wish I could make these things up; I'd make a lot of money selling them to comedians.
Abraham Lincoln.

The entire YMCA.
The USDA. They recommend two servings of milk a day, and "lactose intolerance" is mostly a non-white problem.
And one non-European racist: Mahatma Gandhi.
The last one requires a quotation:
There are those who wonder why Mohan [Gandhi] did not fight the cause of the African natives of South Africa. Some historians have uncharitably labeled Gandhiji as a "racist", but I think they miss a very important point.
Gandhiji was unfamiliar with South Africa and the conditions and the language of the native Africans. He was also equally unfamiliar with the philosophy of non-violence which was being evolved one campaign at a time. It was hard enough for him to convince his own people about this philosophy without having to translate it for the native Africans who were known for their militancy.
All these people are liberals, and part of the Liberal Consensus (with the exception of Frosty, whose association with Christmas renders him suspect).  The Gandhi quote was written by a  Hindu relative of Gandhi's who is also outside the Consensus.
"Known for their militancy," indeed! Who does he think he is? Pat Buchanan?
So it's not surprising that Thomas Jefferson is called a racist, and so are black conservatives, the whole Republican Party, anyone to the right of Nelson Rockefeller, (who was also called a racist while he was alive), libertarians like L. Neil Smith, the entire Catholic Church, and of course, the United States of America. [Continue at VDARE Endorsed by Southern Poverty Law Center! (Well, we regard it as an endorsement.) ]

Racism Examples

When Blacks (Mexicans, Turks,..) want a physician their own race it is ok. If Whites want a white physician, it is racism.

Doctors who look like themselves

When black patients prefer black doctors, the New York Times is sympathetic to them. In the article “A Case for Black Doctors,”  [...]

I did find an article in The Medical Blog titled “Many White Patients Don’t Want Black Nurses or Doctors.” Granted, unlike the previous article, this one is framed as a negative; it doesn’t examine whether white patients prefer white doctors, but whether they have an aversion to black doctors.

Nevertheless, the implication is that their preference is for one of their own. It reads, in part:

When African-American nurse Tonya Battle of the Hurley Medical Center (NICU) in Michigan was reassigned because a white father didn’t want her anywhere near his newborn child, she was floored. The racist father had made the request after showing the charge nurse a picture of his swastika tattoo. As it turns out, however, Battle is not alone in being discriminated against in this way.

So, when black patients prefer doctors of their own race, it’s understandable, and necessary to accommodate them. But when white patients do the same, it’s “discrimination” and “racism.”

Yale Cements Its Line in the Academic Sand by Awarding the Student ‘Truthtellers’ Who Bullied Faculty

Christakis was defending the most fundamental principle of higher education: that the university should serve as a place of free inquiry where individuals can respectfully engage with one another in the pursuit of knowledge.
At least, that’s what places like Yale claim to stand for. Not anymore.
Of the 100 or so students who confronted Christakis that day, a young woman who called him “disgusting” and shouted “who the fuck hired you?” before storming off in tears became the most infamous, thanks to an 81-second YouTube clip that went viral. (The video also—thanks to its promotion by various right-wing websites—brought this student a torrent of anonymous harassment). The videos that Tablet exclusively posted last year, which showed a further 25 minutes of what was ultimately an hours-long confrontation, depicted a procession of students berating Christakis. In one clip, a male student strides up to Christakis and, standing mere inches from his face, orders the professor to “look at me.” Assuming this position of physical intimidation, the student then proceeds to declare that Christakis is incapable of understanding what he and his classmates are feeling because Christakis is white, and, ipso facto, cannot be a victim of racism. In another clip, a female student accuses Christakis of “strip[ping] people of their humanity” and “creat[ing] a space for violence to happen,” a line later mocked in an episode of The Simpsons. In the videos, Howard, the dean who wrote the costume provisions, can be seen lurking along the periphery of the mob.
Of Yale’s graduating class, it was these two students whom the Nakanishi Prize selection committee deemed most deserving of a prize for “enhancing race and/or ethnic relations” on campus. Hectoring bullies quick to throw baseless accusations of racism or worse; cosseted brats unscrupulous in their determination to smear the reputations of good people, these individuals in actuality represent the antithesis of everything this award is intended to honor. Yet, in the citation that was read to all the graduating seniors and their families on Class Day, Yale praised the latter student as “a fierce truthteller.”
This, for a hysterical liar who accused one of the university’s most distinguished academic minds of inciting “violence” upon his own students. And the chair of the selection committee? Burgwell Howard.

Wikipedia: Racism

Racism is discrimination and prejudice towards people based on their race or ethnicity. Today, the use of the term "racism" does not easily fall under a single definition.[1][2]
The ideology underlying racist practices often includes the idea that humans can be subdivided into distinct groups that are different in their social behavior and innate capacities and that can be ranked as inferior or superior.[3] The Holocaust is a classic example of institutionalized racism which led to the death of millions of people based on race. While the concepts of race and ethnicity are considered to be separate in contemporary social science, the two terms have a long history of equivalence in both popular usage and older social science literature. [...]

Metapedia: Racism

Racism is a term usually only used by critics. Official definitions of racism often state that the term should only be applied on the belief that some races are superior and on negative actions due to this. In practice, it is often applied as a form of ad hominem on anyone who believes in the existence of races or even on persons only advocating restricting immigration, persons only criticizing another culture or multiculturalism, persons only supporting their own country/ethnicity, and so on. What is the real definition of "racism"?

Accusations of racism abound these days. Hollywood and the Oscars are racist. Silicon Valley is racist. The Chicago police are racist. Algorithms are racist. Google search results are racist. College students who wear mustaches and sombreros to parties are racist. A New York Times writer tells liberal white folk to admit to the racist poison they harbor inside. The proliferation of accusations has watered down the term, and has lead some people to clarify that some offender is a real racist. House Speaker Paul Ryan describes a Donald Trump comment as being the “textbook definition” of racist. Conservative commentators denounce the racist hordes of the “alt-right”. Those on the alt-right deny being racist, and explain that only those fringe crazy storm-fronters and 1488ers are the real racists.
Despite being such a poorly defined concept, the charge of being a racist can be very serious. The word connotes being an odious, repulsive person. Esteemed African-American academic and linguist and John McWhorter notes that calling somebody racist is “about the worst thing you can call them.” It is like “calling somebody a child molester.”
If a racism charge sticks, the accused can face both social ostracization and real legal sanction. A racist view is beyond the protections of free speech. Rather, the law works to suppress such views. Every American company must obey the civil rights law and not allow a “hostile environment”. Employing a known racist could easily be construed as creating a hostile environment; the mere presence of a racist could be used as evidence against the company in a lawsuit. Companies thus face legal pressure to fire racists. Attempting to categorize someone as a racist is an attack on their livelihood.
Yet, in my opinion, when looking at the vast majority of accusations, the offending person or institution is not racist by a definition of racist that actually describes an evil, odious behavior. There is a motte-and-bailey tactic with definitions. The word connotes evilness under one narrow definition, but then the definition gets expanded so that it can be applied to any political enemy, thus associating them with evil.

Sweden: It Is Considered Racism Only If the Victims Are Not White, October 27, 2015

Although everyone has condemned the attack, the internet is also crowded with people questioning the huge difference on how the "establishment" has been reacting. After the IKEA murders, the Swedish government did not make a single public statement, not even to mourn the family's loss. But as soon news broke of the school attack, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven dropped everything and went to Trollhättan to condemn the slaughter, calling it "a black day for Sweden."
Newscasts and television debates were devoted to the attack, and focused on the racist motive. After the double murder at IKEA, there were no such discussions. We have yet to hear anyone condemn the racist motive of IKEA killer, Abraham Ukbagabir, a migrant from Eritrea.
When he was indicted last week, it was revealed that Ukbagabir told police he chose his victims, Carola and Emil Herlin, because they "looked Swedish." According to the forensic psychiatric evaluation, Ukbagabir is "completely self-absorbed and views other people only as a means to meet his own goals."
The double murder he committed was apparently an act of revenge. According to the police report, he said he had felt unfairly treated -- he thought he would get to stay in Sweden. He viewed Sweden as his homeland and "if an enemy disturbs you, you have no choice but to defend yourself." The rejection, he told the police, had made him feel like a criminal, and he was angry, offended and disappointed.

[NZZ]
